Description
Mode of Action
Chlorpyrifos 35% + Fipronil 3.5% W/W EC is an organophosphate insecticide that inhibits the activity of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, which is responsible for breaking down the neurotransmitter acetylcholine in the nervous system of insects. By inhibiting this enzyme, Chlorpyrifos causes an accumulation of acetylcholine, leading to overstimulation of the nervous system and eventual paralysis and death of the insect. Fipronil, on the other hand, is a phenylpyrazole insecticide that targets the central nervous system of insects by blocking the action of the gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptor. This receptor is responsible for regulating the flow of chloride ions in the insect’s nervous system, and its inhibition by Fipronil leads to hyperexcitation of the nerves, leading to paralysis and the death of the insect.
