Peptech Biosciences Limited (ISO 9001:2015) is pleased to announce that the Central Insecticide Board and Registration Committee (CIBRC) has approved the grant of registration for the technical indigenous manufacture of Glufosinate ammonium 50% TC, u/s 9(4).
The company has received the final approval from the registration committee in the 443rd RC meeting held on December 22, 2022.
Glufosinate-ammonium is an herbicide. It is a synthetic organophosphate glutamine synthetase inhibitor and neurotoxin. It is characterized as a volatile white to light yellow crystalline solid that is highly soluble. It has a slightly pungent odour. It is used to eliminate unwanted vegetation, particularly weeds and grasses, in various crops. It can be exposed through inhalation, ingestion, or contact.
Farmers rely on Glufosinate-ammonium because it only affects the parts of the plant where it is applied, ensuring a high level of crop safety. It is effective against a wide variety of weeds, removing the need to apply multiple herbicides to control different weeds on a single crop. Its distinct mode of action makes it ideal for use in rotation with other herbicides to reduce weed resistance.
