Sulfentrazone 39.6% SC is a broad-spectrum, selective, pre-emergence herbicide belonging to the triazolinone chemical class. It provides effective control of broadleaf weeds, sedges, and grassy weeds in soybean and other field crops. This formulation ensures long-lasting residual activity in the soil, helping maintain weed-free fields during the early growth stages of crops.
Sulfentrazone acts by inhibiting the enzyme protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO) in plants.
This inhibition causes an accumulation of protoporphyrin IX, leading to membrane disruption through lipid peroxidation. As a result, targeted weeds exhibit chlorosis, necrosis, and rapid desiccation after germination.
Herbicide Resistance Action Committee (HRAC) Classification: Group 14 (PPO inhibitor)
