Chlorimuron Ethyl works by inhibiting the enzyme acetolactate synthase (ALS) or acetohydroxyacid synthase (AHAS). These enzymes are essential for the synthesis of branched-chain amino acids (valine and isoleucine) in weeds, leading to halted growth and eventual death. It’s classified as a Group-2 herbicide (ALS inhibitor).
