It works by inhibiting a critical plant enzyme called EPSPS (5-enolpyruvyl-shikimate-3-phosphate synthase), which is necessary for producing essential aromatic amino acids required for protein synthesis. Without this enzyme, treated plants die due to the lack of protein synthesis.
