Dinotefuran 20% w/w SG has a unique feature compared to other neonicotinoid insecticides, as it has a relatively fast-acting systemic effect, meaning it can be taken up quickly by the plant and transported throughout the plant’s tissues. This feature makes it particularly useful for controlling pests that feed on plant tissues, such as aphids, whiteflies, and other sap-sucking insects.
Dinotefuran is a systemic insecticide that belongs to the neonicotinoid class of chemicals. Its mode of action involves targeting the insect’s nervous system by binding to specific receptors called nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs). When dinotefuran is ingested by an insect, it binds to the nAChRs in the insect’s central nervous system, which leads to overstimulation of the receptors. This overstimulation causes the neurons to fire continuously, leading to paralysis and ultimately the death of the insect.
