Paraquat Dichloride 24% SL is a broad-spectrum, non-selective, contact herbicide containing 24% active ingredient of Paraquat dichloride. It is highly effective for controlling a wide range of annual and perennial broadleaf weeds and grasses. Paraquat is rapidly absorbed by green plant tissues, leading to quick desiccation and weed death. It is widely used in post-emergence directed spray and pre-plant applications for various crops and non-crop areas.
Paraquat acts by disrupting photosynthesis in green plant cells. During the photosynthetic process, it accepts electrons from photosystem I and transfers them to oxygen, forming superoxide radicals. These highly reactive molecules damage cell membranes and cytoplasm, causing rapid wilting, desiccation, and death of plant tissues.
