Carbendazim 50% WP is a systemic fungicide that is commonly used to control a wide range of fungal diseases in various crops such as cereals, fruits, vegetables, and ornamentals. Carbendazim 50% WP contains 50% of the active ingredient Carbendazim and 50% inert ingredients. When mixed with water, the wettable powder dissolves to form a suspension that can be sprayed onto the plant foliage or applied to the soil to control fungal diseases such as powdery mildew, rust, and blight.
Carbendazim 50% WP works by inhibiting the growth and reproduction of fungal cells, preventing the formation of new fungal spores, and reducing the spread of the disease. When applied to the roots, the active ingredient passes intercellularly into the xylem vessels and is swept along by the sap stream towards the foliage. When applied to the foliage, the fungicide gets into the xylem and spreads to the distal parts of the leaf, but not in the opposite direction towards the roots. It mainly acts by inhibiting the development of germ tubes, the formation of appressoria, and the growth of mycelia.
