Clothianidin 50% WG is a broad‐spectrum, systemic insecticide from the neonicotinoid class, developed to provide reliable protection in field crops. The formulation is especially effective against key pests such as brown plant-hopper in rice and jassids and whitefly in cotton. It works internally, offering long‐lasting protection against sap-sucking and leaf‐feeding pests.
Clothianidin interferes with the insect nervous system by binding to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs). This disrupts signal transmission in the pest, causing paralysis and death. As a systemic compound, it is taken up by the plant and moves into tissues where pests feed, thereby inhibiting them in a more targeted manner.
