Description

Emamectin Benzoate 5% SG is a water-soluble granular formulation containing 5% active ingredient. It belongs to the avermectin group of macrocyclic lactone insecticides and is primarily effective against Lepidopteran pests in cotton, pulses, and vegetables.

Emamectin Benzoate acts mainly by ingestion, causing rapid feeding cessation in larvae. Affected larvae become paralyzed and typically die within 2–4 days. The product demonstrates translaminar action, penetrating leaf tissues and protecting both surfaces.

The compound binds to glutamate-gated chloride channels in nerve and muscle cells, leading to increased chloride ion influx, hyperpolarization, paralysis, and death. It acts mainly through ingestion with additional contact activity.
